Job Description

The Role

  • The Business Solutions Manager leads the design, procurement, implementation, and ongoing management of MSI Nigeria’s enterprise technology systems.
  • The role is the primary owner of the ERP procurement process and is responsible for ensuring that all business applications, including financial systems, operational tools, and data platforms, are robustly implemented, well-governed, and tightly integrated with the organisation’s broader data and technology ecosystem.
  • The Business Solutions Manager leads a skilled technical team spanning MIS, software development, and data systems, and is a key partner to Programmes, Operations, Finance, Human Resources, Technical Services, and Clinical Services functions.

Key Responsilities
Enterprise Systems Strategy & ERP:

  • Lead the end-to-end ERP procurement process, including requirements definition, RFP development, vendor evaluation, contract negotiation, and implementation oversight.
  • Establish and chair an ERP working group in collaboration with Programmes, Finance, Human Resources & Admin, and other key internal stakeholders.
  • Develop a detailed implementation roadmap for the ERP, managing timelines, risks, dependencies, and change management requirements.
  • Ensure ERP configuration meets MSI Nigeria’s financial, operational, and programme reporting requirements.
  • Oversee post-implementation ERP maintenance, user administration, system updates, and vendor support management.

Business Application Management:

  • Manage the full portfolio of MSI Nigeria’s enterprise business applications, ensuring they remain fit for purpose, supported, and integrated.
  • Evaluate requests for new business applications or system changes, conducting cost-benefit analysis and recommending appropriate solutions.
  • Ensure all business applications are properly documented, with user guides, data dictionaries, and system architecture records maintained.
  • Establish and enforce application governance standards, including version control, change management, and access control policies.
  • Liaise with the Data Systems Coordinator and Analytics Head to ensure seamless data flows between business systems and reporting tools.

MIS Oversight:

  • Provide strategic oversight of MSI Nigeria’s Management Information Systems, ensuring that operational and programme data is systematically captured, governed, and accessible.
  • Work with the MIS Officer to ensure all MIS tools are configured, maintained, and aligned to reporting requirements.
  • Champion data quality and integrity standards across all systems managed by the Business Solutions team.
  • Support the integration of MIS data into analytical and reporting platforms managed by the Analytics team.
  • Advise the Head of Department on MIS-related risks, gaps, and improvement opportunities.

Software Development & Technical Delivery:

  • Manage the Software Lead to ensure in-house application development, scripting, and technical documentation meets organisational quality standards.
  • Prioritise and govern the internal software development backlog, balancing business needs against technical capacity.
  • Ensure all developed applications are properly tested, version-controlled, documented, and handed over with appropriate training.
  • Oversee integration work between internally developed tools and third-party platforms, including APIs, automated pipelines, and data connectors.
  • Ensure software development practices comply with MSI Nigeria’s data security and information governance policies.

Team Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Directly line-manage the MIS Officer, Software Lead, and Data Systems Coordinator, setting objectives, conducting appraisals, and building technical capability.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Finance, Operations, Programme, and M&E leads as primary users of business systems.
  • Represent the Business Solutions team’s work and priorities within the department and contribute to departmental planning.
  • Manage vendor relationships for all business applications, including contract renewals, escalations, and service reviews.
  • Produce regular progress reports on ERP and enterprise systems delivery for the Head of Department and SMT as required.

Qualification / Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Business Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Relevant certification in project management (PMP, PRINCE2) or enterprise systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) is an advantage.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in enterprise systems management, business analysis, or technology delivery roles.
  • Minimum 3 years in a management or team lead capacity overseeing technical staff.
  • Demonstrated experience in ERP procurement, implementation, or governance — from requirements through to go-live.
  • Proven track record managing multiple enterprise business applications simultaneously.
  • Experience working with Finance or Operations teams on systems requirements and change management.
  • Experience managing external vendors and software contracts.

Essential Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of ERP systems architecture, implementation methodology, and organisational change management.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into functional system specifications.
  • Effective project management skills, including timeline management, risk identification, and stakeholder reporting.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Sound knowledge of data governance, integration principles, and API-based connectivity.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.

Desirable:

  • Experience in an international NGO, global health, or humanitarian sector context.
  • Familiarity with ODK, CommCare, ONA, DHIS2 or similar field data collection platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics, SAP Business One, Oracle NetSuite, or equivalent ERP platforms.
  • Understanding of financial management and supply chain processes in an NGO context
